
TEACH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO BUILD AN RC CAR!
Position - After School Instructor (2 openings)
Description – Student Racing Partners delivers an after school
program through the local school districts. The class meets for 2 hours
twice a week and the program runs for 8 weeks. The course integrates academic
and social skill building through the team experience of building a radio
controlled 1/10 scale model car.
The Instructor will be responsible for leading all sessions of the Model
Racecar Program. This includes curriculum execution, building and maintaining
positive working relationships with school site personnel and parents,
and monitoring student progress. Specific duties of the Instructor include:
- Effectively lead/manage a classroom of 24 middle school aged youth
- Complete all course sessions outlined in Program’s curriculum,
adhering to quality standards
- Monitor student progress through the use of Student Tracking Reports
- Build relationships with school site personnel, parents, and other after
school service providers
- Collect data for evaluation reports
- Actively participate in SRP staff meetings and other events as required
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Demonstrated classroom management skills.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills (Bilingual Spanish
required for one position)
- User level computer skills (working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint)
- Classroom or related (YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, etc.) experience
- A drive to work with at-risk youth from a variety of backgrounds
- Passion for community development, student academic achievement and
social development
Curriculum training will be provided.
Minimum requirements:
-A 4-year degree (A 2 year degree and 2 years work experience may be substituted)
-Teaching credential a plus
- Valid CA Driver’s license
- Ability to lift 60 lbs
